Meet Emily

A Southern Oregon Voice. A Mother. A Small Business Owner. A Representative Who Listens.

Emily McIntire was born and raised in Jackson County and has called Eagle Point home for more than three decades. She and her husband, Ryan, are raising their family in the community they love, and Emily has spent much of her adult life serving the people around her.

Before entering state politics, Emily was a small-business owner and a longtime advocate for families and students in her community and church. Her path to public service began through her local schools. She has served on the board since 2017, gaining firsthand experience in education, budgets, community priorities, and the importance of local decision-making.

In 2022, Emily was elected to represent Oregon House District 56, a district that stretches from the Rogue Valley into Klamath County. She has continued to approach her role as a representative of the people—not simply as a politician. Her focus has been on listening to constituents, understanding the unique challenges facing rural Oregon, and bringing local priorities to Salem.

During her time in the Legislature, Emily has made it a priority to spend time in the communities she represents, including Klamath County, meeting with local leaders, farmers, ranchers, business owners, educators, families, and constituents. She has worked to understand the issues that matter most to rural Oregon, including agriculture, water, education, infrastructure, economic opportunity, and the future of our communities.

Emily believes government works best when decisions are made as close to the people as possible. She believes parents should have a meaningful voice in their children's education, rural communities should have a seat at the table, and elected officials should be accountable to the people they represent.

For Emily, public service is personal.

Whether working on education, securing funding for local infrastructure, advocating for rural communities, or simply helping a constituent navigate state government, Emily believes her job is to listen, serve, and make sure the voices of District 56 are heard in Salem.
